Yes* How the Internet Made Everything Possible: A Student Exhibition of Graphic Design
The past 20 years have been those of unprecedented technological advancements, including the introduction of the internet to the modern world. Our generation welcomes innovation with an exuberant YES! We quickly accepted the internet as our best outlet and tool for knowledge. The internet offers us an array of possibilities, and never judges our curiosity.
Design reflects this same freedom, in which we can explore all subjects.
Where every idea is worth exploring.
Where you can say yes.
The internet is integral to life, to our design practice, and now to adapting to the challenges our world is facing. Our plans have changed, our everyday life has shifted, as we navigate this formative time in history. It seems fitting that we as the class of 2020, children of the internet, and the original Generation Z, will host an online, virtual experience for our Senior Exhibition, Yes*.
Not only are we saying yes to the ways design will continue to shape our future, we are saying yes to all the thoughtful, open-minded, and curious attitudes we have formed about our world during our time as graphic design students.
We are saying:
Yes* to individuality
Yes* to unity.
Yes* to growing in uncertainty.
By placing an asterisk after yes, we are saying that there is more to know. This typographic symbol draws on curiosity, much like the design process.
Yes is how we started 2020. We had no idea what was in store of us, but we’re ready to tackle whatever the future holds*.
The first step in the design process is acceptance. So say Yes*.
